The short version: Made For Artist is a marketplace. The artists and salons
on it are independent businesses — you book with them, pay them directly, and
their policies apply to your appointment. We run the platform, keep the marketplace honest,
and never sell search rankings. By using the site you agree to everything below.
1. Who we are — and who we are not
Made For Artist ("MFA", "we") operates madeforartist.com, a booking marketplace and business
software for beauty professionals. Every artist, salon and studio listed ("Business") is an
independent business — not our employee, agent, or partner. We do not provide
beauty services, we do not set Businesses' prices or policies, and appointments are a contract
between you and the Business you book.
2. Your account
- There are three account types: Client, Artist, and
Business (which can add reception and staff logins).
- You must give accurate information and keep your login private. One account per person.
- You must be at least 18 to create an account and book paid services, or use
the platform with a parent or legal guardian.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, post prohibited content, or harm
other users — and we'll tell you why.
3. Bookings are with the Business
- Prices, service descriptions, cancellation windows and deposit policies are set by each
Business and are shown to you before you confirm a booking.
- Questions about a service, refund, or appointment outcome go to the Business first —
it's their work and their policy. If you can't resolve it, contact
Support and we'll do what we reasonably can to help.
- Businesses may refuse or reschedule appointments per their own policies and applicable law.
4. Payments and deposits
- Payments and deposits are processed through each Business's own payment account
(provided by Helcim) and go directly to that Business. MFA never holds your money
and card numbers never touch our servers.
- A Business may require a deposit at booking. Whether a deposit is refundable — and what
happens if you cancel late or don't show up — follows the policy shown to you
before you paid.
- Refunds for services are decided by the Business under their stated policy. Billing errors
on platform subscriptions (Section 7) are ours — contact Support and we'll fix them.
- Your clients never pay a booking fee to MFA.
5. No-shows and your reliability record
To protect small businesses from missed appointments, MFA keeps a simple appointment-reliability
record for clients, shared across Businesses on the platform. It is deliberately limited and fair:
- Only a Business you actually booked with can add a mark, and only for a real appointment
they marked as missed or cancelled late. Nothing is ever inferred automatically.
- Marks fade after about 18 months, and every kept appointment improves your record.
- If you dispute a mark it stops counting while it is being looked at.
- You can always see your own record in full, and only the Business that gave a
mark can remove it. Think a mark is wrong? Contact that Business or Support.
- The record is used only inside Made For Artist — to let Businesses ask
higher-risk bookings for a deposit or hold them for approval. It is not a credit report,
it is never sold, and it is never shared outside the platform.
6. Reviews and content you post
- Reviews go both ways: clients rate Businesses, and Businesses rate clients. Reviews must
reflect a real appointment and your honest experience. Fake, paid-for, or
retaliatory reviews are removed and can end an account.
- We do not suppress honest negative reviews, and no Business can pay to remove one.
- All content must be PG-13: no nudity, hate, threats, or explicit material.
A filter and human review enforce this; repeated violations end accounts.
- You keep ownership of what you upload (photos, reviews, profile text) and give MFA a
non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform for as long as it's posted.
- To report content that infringes your copyright, email
contact@madeforartist.com with the details and we'll
take it down while we review.
7. Plans and billing (for Businesses)
- Artist FREE is $0, needs no card, and has no end date. It includes your
listing, unlimited bookings, and taking deposits with no-show protection. We are not going
to promise it stays free forever — nobody can honestly promise that about the future. What
we will promise is the notice period below: if it ever changes, you get 30 days' warning
and you never get charged without agreeing first.
- Paid plans are Artist Pro ($29/month) and Business ($59/month).
Business covers your whole team at one price — there is no per-person
charge and no limit on how many people you add. Hiring never changes what you pay.
- Optional add-ons are priced individually and bill monthly. Some can be
tried free for 14 days. A trial simply ends — it does
not turn into a paid subscription, and we never take a card to start one.
One trial per add-on.
- Monthly plans: no contract. Cancel anytime from your dashboard and billing
stops at the end of the month you have paid for.
- Prepaid 6-month and 1-year terms are discounted because you commit to the
term. The discount applies to the plan itself; add-ons stay monthly.
- Cancelling a prepaid term — exactly how the refund works:
- Cancel within 14 days and you get all of it back,
no questions.
- After that, you pay the normal monthly price for the months you
started, and the rest is refunded. A part-month counts as a month.
The prepaid discount is not kept on early exit — the discount was the price of
committing to the term.
- Worked example: a Business studio pays $637 for a year and cancels in month three.
Three months at the normal $59 is $177, so $460 comes back.
- Once the months you have used come to more than you paid up front, there is nothing
left to refund. On a 1-year term that point falls in month 11.
- Refunds go back to the card you paid with. We do not charge a cancellation fee.
- We give at least 30 days' notice before changing the price of a plan you're on.
- Your clients and booking history are yours: export them free, anytime, on any plan, from
Studio › Export.
- Businesses are responsible for their own licences, taxes, insurance, and legal compliance.
8. Memberships and gift cards sold by Businesses
- When a Business sells you a membership or e-gift card, that Business is the issuer
and is responsible for honouring it.
- Auto-renewing memberships must show you the price and renewal terms before you pay. To stop
a renewal, ask the Business — they control autopay on your membership from
their dashboard, and they must action it. If they don't, contact
Support and we will. There is no self-serve cancel button on your
side yet; we would rather say so than imply one exists.
- Gift card balances do not expire.
9. Advertising, promoted placement, and the Verified badge
- Paid placements are always clearly marked "Promoted." Organic search ranking
on Discover is never for sale — no Business can buy a better organic position.
- Ads are reviewed by a person before running and must meet the same PG-13 standard.
- The blue Verified badge means one thing: a person at MFA confirmed that
business's details by hand. It is not a background check, licence
verification, or endorsement.
10. What we don't verify
We do not verify professional licences, certifications, or backgrounds of Businesses or their
staff, and we don't inspect their premises. Reviews, photos, and the reliability system exist to
help you choose — but the choice, and the judgment, are yours. If something goes wrong at an
appointment, report it to us and we will investigate the account.
11. Business information from Google
Some unclaimed listings show details (photos, hours, addresses) delivered live from Google in
your browser — that data is © Google and we store only the place reference. It may be
outdated or wrong; confirm details with the business before you travel.
12. Acceptable use
Don't use MFA to break the law, harass anyone, post prohibited content, misrepresent who you
are, scrape or copy the platform, interfere with its operation, or process payments unrelated
to genuine beauty services.
13. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
- The platform is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it fast and available
but can't promise it will never be down or bug-free.
- Because services are performed by independent Businesses, MFA is not liable for the
services themselves — including their quality, safety, or outcomes.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from
the platform is limited to the amount you paid MFA in the 12 months before the claim
(or $100 if you paid us nothing).
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law.
14. If we ever part ways
You can close your account anytime. Businesses can export their data first — always. If we
terminate an account for breaking these terms, unused subscription time on a cancelled-for-cause
account is not refunded.
15. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Before any formal
step, you agree to try to resolve the issue with us first through Support —
we answer within 72 hours and most things get fixed there. Any dispute that can't be resolved
informally will be handled in the state or federal courts of Los Angeles County, California.
16. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms we update the date at the top, and for meaningful changes we notify
account holders. Using the platform after a change means you accept it.
